REHEARSALS NOW AT RIO AMERICANO HIGH SCHOOL

Rio Americano is located on American River Drive.  Take Fair Oaks Blvd. to Saverien Drive.  Take Saverien Drive and follow it.  It ends at Rio's parking lot, so just continue forward into the lot.

The Sacramento Concert Band was founded in 1969 by Ed LaFranchi. Through the years the band went through several name changes, including the Sacramento Valley Concert Band and the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band. Dr. Les Lehr was the second conductor of the band in the 1980's, during which time the band experienced tremendous growth. The band spawned the Sacramento Symphonic Winds, directed by Dr. Lehr; the Capital City Concert Band, directed by John Lillie; and indirectly the River City Concert Band, directed by Tom Seaton.

Through its rich history the band has always performed a wide variety of music and has been known for the quality of its performances. The Sacramento Concert Band is an adult education course of the San Juan Unified School District, which has sponsored the band since its inception. If you play or have played an instrument, we welcome you to our rehearsals, held each Monday evening at 7:15 p.m. during the school year at Rio Americano High School. Contact Grant Parker for more information.

The Sacramento Concert Band is a member of the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association.
