REHEARSALS AT RIO AMERICANO HIGH
SCHOOL The Sacramento Concert Band was founded in 1969 by Ed LaFranchi. Through the years the band went through several name changes, including the Sacramento Valley Concert Band and the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band. Dr. Les Lehr was the second conductor of the band in the 1980's, during which time the band experienced tremendous growth. The band spawned the Sacramento Symphonic Winds, directed by Dr. Lehr; the Capital City Concert Band, directed by John Lillie; and indirectly the River City Concert Band, directed by Tom Seaton.
The Sacramento Concert Band is a member of the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association. |
