Grant Parker, Conductor

Grant Parker has been conductor of the Sacramento Concert  Band since 1990. He is currently Director of Bands at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento. He was co-conductor of the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band on its 1996 concert tour of Russia. He has guest conducted the the San Juan U.S.D. High School Honor Band and the Western Slopes Honor Band. Mr. Parker received his Masters in Wind Band Conducting from CSU, Sacramento, where he studied under Dr. Robert Halseth, Frederick Fennell, Eugene Corporon and Gary Hill. Previous teaching positions include El Dorado High School, Mira Loma and Folsom High Schools, Arcade, and Einstein Intermediate Schools, Graduate Assistant at CSU, Sacramento, and Director of the Sacramento Youth Band. Mr. Parker is a member of the California Music Educator's Association where he has served as the President of Capitol Section and has served on the state board. He is currently president of the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association. As a performer, Mr. Parker has been a member of this band, the Camellia Symphony Orchestra and has for many years played lead trumpet with the Fred Morgan Jazz Band. He is a product of our local school system, attending El Camino High, American River College, and CSU, Sacramento.
